Today’s walk was easier than before! Plus… Daniel informed me today that in the 5 weeks we have been walking together he too has lost weight! 30 Lbs in 5 weeks!! I am proud of him. Now that I am seated, I am finding my joints in my legs getting more difficult to move with each minute. And my feet are very sore…. albeit inside. With my nerve pain as severe as it has become, I can not longer feel touch on my skin, but rather pressure and pain. I am hoping this gets better, but I suspect it will not without divine assistance.

Our dog Roxie passed today. I have always known I was not an emotional eater, yet I found with the grief I was experiencing, that I wanted to give up on this program. There is no doubt that Hope is important to keep alive in every way. Maybe this is why many eat while depressed? In any case, we will miss our little Roxie, and we love her. And we will see her again someday at Rainbow Bridge. She was the last in a long line of miniature Dachshunds our family had raised.

Still VERY tired, and pushing hard with walking. The pain is hard, and my legs lock up after I sit down. I know, however, that this will eventually correct itself as has much in my body already. My blood work came back completely normal! Albeit my Liver is still alarming. That will soon correct itself as well. My blood has never been so good. I am pleased.
I am finding myself thinking of food quite often these days… perhaps because I am actually starving with all I am doing exercise wise.

I am sooooo tired! I was told yesterday by the Nurse and the Nutritionist running the program that they love that I am walking so much, but that in doing so, and burning so many calories each day, that I am well burning way more than normal, and because so, my body has gone into starvation mode. This means it hold on to every calorie as much as possible to run my body… like a man in a dessert… in order to function. They are speaking with the Doctor about allowing my more calories via the drink to compensate rather than have me slow down.

I actually FEEL smaller today! I am very anxious to see what I weigh tomorrow! I have come to find that as I work hard in my walking and active time, I am making myself ravenously hungry. Even the smells of food is driving me crazy. It has become difficult once again to hear people discussing food. And I seem to be taking offense now to when people tell me how hungry they are, or when they have just eaten something, and tell me it didn’t satisfy them. It is not their fault of course, and I am the one in the wrong here. That stated, as they tell me these things I am thinking to myself… or even vocalizing to my wife…. how lucky they are to have food. My mindset now knows how much I took food for granted. Kind of shocking to realize that fact. One thing is for sure… my wife is truly amazing in all this… and she stands by me, and gives me that extra push. The most of my strength comes from the Father in Heaven as He helps me become well again.. that I may serve to the best of my ability.
Of note: Daniel is a different man. He is positive daily now, whereas before he spoke of not wanting to do this, and having to drag himself out of bed to do so. Then again… so did I when I started. He is truly doing amazing work. I just wish I could influence him in his eating better. He still gives what I hear as excuse in order to be able to eat. For instance… I will finish telling him how important it is to create the lifestyle he will live with the rest of his life that will allow his body to remain fit, and never get fat again. He responds with words, “But I can still have this… or have that still, right?”… when he really should not…. or rationalize eating habits to his working out. He may take in a fruit smoothie, thinking it is good for him, and also eat a full box of macaroni and cheese, or a pizza… then think he ate better. I did this as well when I was on food. I can see it is a matter of time before his mindset changes on that.

I feel a difference this morning. My knees are not in pain as I wake, and I feel lighter. My walking partner, Daniel is beginning to make HUGE strides in hi activity levels. He walks three miles with me in the mornings, then goes to the Gym and does an hour on the stair climber… not start stepper… the STAIR CLIMBER, which is MUCH harder! I am proud of him. He is seeing for the first time that his efforts truly due bring the Spirit, and that the Father is involved in his life with many blessings he could not see before. As we try, we receive, and we are able to assist others in that quest as well….. we serve. It is amazing when truth can be realized in our efforts. I see the Father present in all I do… and He gives me His strength the more I try. I stand amazed.
My Family continues to be a great light for me. They love and support me. Yesterday was July 4, and our usual celebration with food was curbed…. for me. I am very teary as I type that fact. I love them very much. I hope one day I may let them know how much they mean to me.

I woke at 4am this morning…. in great pain. I had been having a Gout attack in my right foot… about half strength (which hurts enough). Today my right foot is fine, but my left ankle is fully engaged in a Gout attack…. and I am at hospital levels of pain. Taking Indomethacin on an empty stomach means I will have great stomach pain as well, but it is my only option right now, as any anti-oxidants I can take have calories. Luckily Church doesn’t begin until 12:30pm today.
It is 12pm now and I have managed (with blessings from Him, as I prayed for intervention) to get the pain under control. I can now walk again and go to Church. I must ask about my uric acid levels and see what is causing them to be high in my assigned diet. I have a feeling it is the sugars in the drinks and bars.

I began taking Amoxicillin immediately yesterday for my leg problems. The Doctor found I had an infection going from when my legs were swollen weeks ago, and had opened sores. I can already see a difference. On a different note, I have gout throughout my body from over indulging greatly over the past few years. Even now, with eating only 1 nutrition bar a day, I am fighting my uric acid levels. My right foot is inflamed currently…. and hurts badly. Luckily it is not a full on attack.
I am back to wanting food. The more I am without it, the more I am wanting it. I fear that I will not get past this feeling, and possibly gorge myself when I get back to food. That stated…. this is most likely a temporary thing… and I have 24 weeks left anyway…. so I really don’t know what I am thinking. Plus… I really don’t want to ever…. EVER be fat again. I suppose that though will be enough after all. I do miss food however.
